The Ladies Auxiliary to the Mathews Volunteer Fire Department was formed 1958. Since its inception the members of the Auxiliary have rendered valuable support to the fire department. The Auxiliary responds to incidents and provides the firefighters with food and water during large scale operations. Over the years, the Auxiliary has purchased many pieces of firefighting equipment, safety equipment, and all other manner of items needed by the department.
The Ladies Auxiliary participates in several fund raising activities each year. The making and selling of Easter eggs, each spring, is their main source of funds.
